Synopsis
Detached looks at the point in life where things start changing so rapidly that it is difficult to keep up.
We follow Tom on the last day in his home. His daughter Lizzy is dealing with the fact that he is becoming increasingly difficult to look after. We witness how he is now unable to care for himself and ultimately how this is affecting his relationship with his daughter.
It is a strange sensation, growing old; a clichéd feeling – but it really does sneak up on you. The tree of life is ripe and ready for harvesting. When you start to pick the fruit it disappears, with no time for reflection. The things you love have come and gone, leaving only yourself and your unique, irreplaceable thoughts.
Looking back gives life to what may seem a colourless existence.
